Radiation Storm from July 23rd Continues

Earth continues to experience a minor (S1) solar radiation storm that began July 23rd, when Active Region 1520 (AR 1520) produced a solar flare and an intense CME. Fortunately for Earth, AR 1520 was well beyond the sun's western limb at that point, and not in the line of sight of the CME. Even so, Earth is experiencing a portion of the solar radiation. A nasty CME indeed. Forecasters expect the storm to end in the next 24 hours.
