August 2nd Sun-Earth Forecast

The above image is a Helioseismic and Magnetic Imager (HMI) Continuum image from NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO). The image was taken August 2nd at 01:30 UTC. The sunspots/active regions, from the upper left and moving counterclockwise, are AR 1535 (upper left), 1537 (left), 1538 (lower left), 1536 (center-left), 1532 (center-right), 1530 (lower right), 1529 (right), and 1528 (upper right). The sun continues to be relatively quiet. According to the forecasters at NOAA, solar activity is expected to be low with a chance for M-class solar flares.

Above Earth, geomagnetic activity is expected to be at quiet to unsettled levels with possible isolated active periods due to effects from the coronal mass ejection (CME) produced by Active Region 1532 (AR 1532) on Saturday, July 28th. August 3rd is expected to have quiet to unsettled activity. And August 4th expected to be mostly quiet. Stay tuned...
